Sometime (early) during the 2nd year after a rookie is drafted they have been losing their team rookie options.

Just a heads up.

Dave Bing actually has lost his 3rd year but still has a contract for years 2 and 4.

Kind of strange.

Rookie options must be picked up by the end of October during years 2 & 3 for the following season. The emails you get about the options will tell you exactly when it is due.

We need to pick those up? I thought those were auto-picked up unlike team options which are auto-declined.

I have Elvin Hayes in his 2nd year, I didn't pick up his option and he has all of his.

Would this explain Dave Bing losing year 3 but not Years 2 and 4 on his contract?

Actually it does get picked up unless you decline it. I'm thinking issues like this might be related to the issue with the imports but I'll be looking into it some more.

FYI - we just had a lot of 2nd year players (and some others on rookie deals too) all just make the leap into FA after the season ended.

Full disclosure we did just expand by two teams.

One of the players who was cut (Dave Bing) also had an issue where the 2nd/middle year of a 3 year deal went disappearing. I know I fixed it at least once during the season (I think probably twice).

Wanted to update you on this in case any of the new info triggered something.

I'm rewriting the import/export process which will help clear up whether or not it is coming from the import or from something else. I would also look at always making a backup save prior to ending the season in the future. That would allow me to walk through if part of the issue is happening there and then fix it if the updated import process doesn't already take care of it. I really don't think that expansion should have an affect on any of this but you never know.
